Phased Return for Pupils
RETURNING TO SCHOOL SAFELY – AN OVERVIEW
Our approach to a safe return is about taking sensible and proportionate actions based upon the latest government advice in order to ensure the school provides a safe place for all pupils, the school workforce and visitors. We have endeavoured to thoroughly prepare for the return of pupils to Tennyson Road South and North campuses from June 2020, where it is safe to do so. We will be working within a new, confined learning environment and, having assessed the risk, we have set out the key measures in a checklist document. Please contact the school if you would like to receive a copy.
To this end, the Trust and senior school leaders have agreed to provide for social distancing within designated teaching groups, or ‘bubbles’, of 10 to 15 (maximum) pupils to ensure that the school controls infection effectively and for classrooms and equipment to be cleaned and disinfected very regularly. Parents are contacted via our ParentMail system with specific details regarding preparing for the school day, drop-off and collection times and other arrangements.
Please note that parents must inform the school about the intended attendance of their child(ren) in advance via admin@tennysonroad.school giving at least 24 hours notice.
Phase One
- The school continues to be open to all pupils with key worker parents and vulnerable children from 8.45am to 3.30pm and parents are expected to inform the school in advance of attendance.
- On Wednesday 3rd June, Friday 5th June and Monday 8th June the school begins the phased expansion to welcome some Year 1 pupils, provided parents have requested a place in advance. The school day for Year 1 pupils will begin approximately at 9.30am and end at 2pm until further notice.
Phase Two
- From Monday 15th June the school welcomes Reception pupils, provided parents have informed the school. The school day for Reception pupils will begin approximately at 9:30 and end at 2pm.
- We are also planning for the safe return of other year groups at a later date if possible, with Year 6 as a priority. We will be contacting parents and carers as we develop our plans over the coming days.
Thank you for your support with our phased reopening.
